Here's a little preview of my Disneyland Canada map - it shows the entrance area called Welcome Plaza. It will be a huge park with fountains and beds of flowers. Everything will be surrounded by those two mighty waterfalls.

I've added a new feature to this site - the Disneyland Canada polls.

One of the many guidelines at the Imagineer department that you have to understand your audience. You can't just build a theme park - you have to communicate with people.

So I've decided to follow this advice and to add the poll. Each months I'll ask you another question. It's my opinion that this will help to make Disneyland Canada a sucess.

Because of my new occupational apprenticeship I haven't much time to provide lots of new ideas, sketches and other Imagineering related stuff. It's sad but true. I love my new job as a travel agent at TUI Leisure Travel, but unfortnuately I can't spend as much time as I want here. The solution to my problem is simple - I need your help!

Ever dreamt of becoming an Imagineer? Now it's your chance! Create unique and fanciful attractions, shops, costumes, show buildings, etc. etc. Mail me your ideas together with blue prints, sketches or maps by pressing the contact button at the buttom of this page. Construction on Main Street Begins

Today I've started with the construction of Main Street Canada. The first building in this realm will be the Disneyland City Hall. It was very much inspired by the Disneyland Paris facade, but I'll add also some nice elements from the other Disney City Halls. Work has only just begun so that I can't post a very detailed picture :-(

I'll work step by step on the complete Town Square area which will feature an Opera House (not a replica of the Disneyland attraction), the Main Street Transportation Company, the Guided Tours office, the Disneyland Canada Railroad Station, and much much more.

Creating a Layout

I found it rather difficult to build such a project without proper refrences like photos or blueprints. Some people can use those things because they build a complete replica of an existing Disney theme park or maybe parts of it, but I can't. That's the problem with totally fictional places like Disneyland Canada. So before I'll build further on my model, I've decided to create a complete layout plan for my theme park. I don't know how long this will take, but I'm pretty sure that the final result will help me to get some understanding of the planned building, the proportions and every other aspect of architecture and landscaping. I think that I've to understand the project first in its complete entireness. That's a very crucial step. It's the only way to ensure a perfect realization of my ideas. As soon as I'll finish the designing stage I'll post the blueprint.

Wonderland Section

While still working on the Mad Tea Party attraction [I don't get the textures right :-( ] I was thinking about the other Wonderland elements. Once again I took a blank sheet and my pencils to capture my ideas.

I was inspired by the rendering below. It's a conceptual sketch of the Quest for the Unicorn attraction for Disney's shelved Beastly Kingdom. I like the idea of a labyrinth which surrounds everything else. As you can see I also seized the idea of the two bridges as the entrances. Instead of the tree you'll find the Mad Tea Party in the middle of the maze.

Fantasyland's Ocean Section

Fantasyland will be divided into many themed areas like the Alice in Wonderland section. Each of these realms will have a central theme which connects all attractions, restaurants and shops with each other.

Today I've designed a new section based upon the ocean. It'll be located between Discovery Bay at Fantasyland's left boarder and the Storybook Land Canal Boats. The Ocean Section will feature two great main attractions, one restaurants and many fanciful details.

The Little Mermaid

This ride will be not the ride that was originally planned for the Disneyland Resort Paris nor a replica of the California Adventure attraction. The Little Mermaid will take guests on an undersea musical voyage that will feature many delightful scenes and songs from the three Ariel movies and the television series. All songs and dialogues will be performed by the original voice cast. The exterior of the attraction will be very similar to the Tokyo DisneySEA castle of Mermaid Lagoon. You have to cross one of the bridges to enter King Triton's kingdom.

Inside the show building you'll travel through many musical segments like Kiss the Girl, Under the Sea or In Harmony.

Crush's Coaster

This coaster will be an extended and enhanced version of the Paris attraction. Guests will visit all the characters and places from Finding Nemo before entering the churning waters of the East Australian Current.The queue will feature Nemo and all of his friends including Crush and his son Squirt.
The attraction exterior will be decorated with artificial rocks, corals and seaweed to create the illusion of entering a real cliff.

Ariel's Grotto

I'll recreate Ariel's grotto from The Little Mermaid movie. Surrounded by her collection of human stuff guests will have the opportunity to meet and greet their favorite mermaid.Beautiful Briny Ballroom

Inspired by the animated sequence from the Disney movie Bedknobs and Broomsticks I'll build a shipwreck that will host a seafood restaurant: the Beautiful Briny Ballroom.Inside the restaurant everything will be decorated with fishes, seaweed and sea shells. The interior will be in some way similar to the Sebastian's Calypso Kitchen at Tokyo DisneySEA.Audio-Animatronic fishs and other marine creatures like the Briny Boys will perform and entertain the guests.

Plussing

Everything in the ocean section will try to recreate to beauty of the underwater world. Sculptures, Audio-Animatronics, fences, bridges, flowers - just everything.Everywhere you can find Disney characters from the seven seas like Ariel or King Triton.I really hope that someday the banks of the Lake Discovery will look pretty much like the picture above. I'll do my level best.

Dedication Plaque

Every Disney theme park has an official dedication plaque. Now it's up to Disneyland Canada to present its own plaque to the world. It will be located somewhere infront of the famous Mickey Mouse flower bed near the Magic Tunnels.

As you can see the main design was very much inspired by Disneyland's 40th Anniversary Time Castle plaque in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle in the Central Plaza Hub.

All I had to do was to mix it up with the Disneyland Canada Logo and my signature. The decication plaque design also features Tinker Bell and the starlet from the Disneyland Paris Hotel logo as a kind of Disney icing on the cake.

Eat Me/Drink Me Refreshments

Today while watching my Alice in Wonderland DVD a new idea for the Alice in Wonderland section came into my mind. I was inspired by the sequence in which Alice meets the Doorknob. Next to the entrance to the Wonderland there'll be a snack bar named Eat Me/Drink Me Refreshments. The exterior will be a replica of the biscuit tin and the bottle with Alice's shrinkage potion.

Early Adventureland Layout

While still working on the Mad Tea Party attraction I was thinking about some design ideas for the other theme lands. Here's a very rough sketch of what Disneyland Canada's Adventureland could look like. I'll take famous classic rides and attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean or The Enchanted Tiki Room and will enhance them with new scenes, new effects, and new technology to guarantee you some extra Disney magic. On the other hand I've got my inspiration from movies like Aladdin and TV series like TaleSpin. I hope that you like some of my ideas.

Attractions:

The Enchanted Tiki Room (will feature birds from Disney movies like Iago, Zazu or the Flamingo from Fantasia 2000 and the most famous hawaiian alien Stitch)
Dinosaur (in some way similar to the Walt Disney World attraction)
It's Tough to be a Bug (this attraction can be found under the Tree House)
The Jungle Cruise (will also feature places like King Louie's temple)
Swiss Family Tree House
The Cave of Wonders (a spectacular rollercoaster)
Flying Carpets to Fantasyland (a modern version of the extinct Skyway attraction)
Aladdin's Arabian Adventures (similar to the Sindbad’s Storybook Voyage ride)
Pirates of the Caribbean (will feature classic elements from the existing versions, but it will be more Pirates of the Caribbean movie-orientated)
Treasure Island (similar to the Disneyland Paris section, but it will also feature some elements from the Muppets adaptation)
Saludos Amigos! (a It's a Small World-like ride based on the classic South America movies)

Restaurants:

Louis' (based on the Restaurant from the TaleSpin television series)
Singapore Restaurant (instead of building another Blue Lagoon or Blue Bayou Restaurant Disneyland Canada's Pirates of the Caribbean attraction will feature a place inspired by the third movie installment)
Jolly Roger (very much similar to the Disneyland Paris version)
Mudka's Meat Mug (inspired by The Emperor's New Groove restaurant)

Hotel:

Agrabah Palace (will be a replica of the palace from the Aladdin movies)

Adventureland will of course also feature a lot of shops and boutiques. Most of them will be located in the Aladdin themed section called Agrabah Bazaar. And for the little ones there'll be a playground like in almost every Disneyland Canada realm.

Mad Tea Party Progress Report #1

Okay guys... as I promised here's my first progress report on the Mad Tea Party attraction. I thought it would be easier to begin with the cups. But I had no idea. Here are two pictures of my first trial and error by using MilkShape. It didn't remind me of the famous tea cups. The design was rather angulare shaped.

Then I found the great Blender software, and started from scratch. This time I had more patience. I've tried to come very close to the actual tea cup design. I took photos of the different versions of the attraction, and create a kind of blue print by using Adobe Illustrator 10. This helped a lot. I was able to get the proportions right. Well, the cups don't look awesome by now, but after all I'm an absolute 3D beginner. I'm pretty sure that I'll become more skilled.

Alice in Wonderland Section

I've decided to begin with one of my favorite Disneyland attractions: the Mad Tea Party. Not just because it's a classic fanciful ride, but also because I love Disney's animated tale of Alice's topsy-turvy world. To go with it I'll build a whole Wonderland section including another attraction and restaurants. Some elements will be inspired by existing Disney show building facades or other decorations, conceptual sketches, and of course by the 1951 feature film Alice in Wonderland (and Tim Burton's upcoming Alice project).

So this is what I'll try to create for my first Fantasyland section. Some ideas might change in the future, but I hope that I'll be able to build as much as possible. You know... I'm an absolute 3D modeler beginner. So it could be tough to do such a thing. Anyway I'll try.

Mad Tea Party

It'll be based completely on the classic Disneyland ride. I did a lot of research to create a unique look for my version. It'll combine different things from the existing attractions worldwide. Here're some examples of what it could look like.

The attraction sign will be very similar to this Hong Kong version. I just love those Alice oversized plants.

The queue will be decorated with such fanciful sculptures and tea service.

The waiting time for the attraction can be found on this Tokyo Disneyland sign.The flooring will be very similar to the Mad Tea Cups attraction in Disneyland Resort Paris.Each of the 18 cups will have a unique color design.
The attraction will be illuminated by those great Chinese laterns.The roof will be made out of glass like the Disneyland Resort Paris version. But the roof elements will not just be a copy. The attraction covering will feature those Alice oversized plants, again.A smoking teapot can be found on top of the attraction. It will be inspired by the Tokyo Disneyland ride.

Alice's Wonderland

It'll be mostly based on the Disneyland Resort Paris attraction but also feature some scenes and elements from Disneyland's dark ride.

You'll step into a giant maze and visit places and characters from Alice in Wonderland. Visit places like the White Rabbit's House for example.

Fish Dinners

This will be a little restaurant which will only offer sea food and fish. The exterior will be inspired by the Walrus and the Carpenter sequence.

Queen of Hearts Royal Banquet Hall

It'll be in many ways a replica of the great Tokyo Disneyland restaurant. I love the theme and design. In my opinion it's one of Disney's best restaurant.

The exterior will be inspired by the Queen of Hearts castle from the Disneyland Resort Paris Alice attraction.

It'll feature also a playground for children.

Time for Tea

It'll be a place where you can buy some refreshments. The inspiration for this place will be the Unbirthday sequence from the Alice in Wonderland movie.

Guests will sit together at one huge table.

Fanciful Chinese Laterns will illuminated the scene.

Plussing

The whole Wonderland section will feature a lot of elements that are based on the original animated movie like the stylized pavement or heart-shaped rosebushes.

Disneyland Canada Launches Radio

Today Disneyland Canada has launched its own online radio - Radio Disneyland Canada. This feature is a great way for me to share with you selected music and other audio tracks that will become the musical background for my virtual theme park. Over the next months I'll add lots of other pieces so that you'll get a pretty good idea of what Disneyland Canada would sound like.

First Layout Ideas

Unlike any exsisting Disney theme park Disneyland Canada will have a totally unique layout. Inspired by Dubai's artificial areas Palm Island and World Islands, I've chosen a very Disney-typical design.

To make sure that we won't forget that it all begun with a little fellow named Mickey, Disneyland Canada will pay tribute to the world's most famous mouse with an iconic Mickey-Mouse-shaped design.

The park will feature 11! theme lands - some will be similar to other parks, some will have a canadian twist, and some will be complete new like Discovery Bay or Villains' Lair.

Virtual Disneyland Canada Project

Welcome to my virtual Disneyland Canada project!

This site has only one aim—to create a 3D model of my ideas for a Canadian Disneyland theme park available to anyone interested. I intend to work on it as often as I could so that it will grow continually. Disneyland Canada will never be completed because I'll always try to add new things or redesign some of its existing elements as long as I've got interest in this project.

For now, the best way to explore it is probably the blog archive. I'll be regularly updating this blog with sketches, blue prints, and renders of the model as it progresses from simple shapes to more or less complete park areas including attractions, restaurants, shops or whatsoever.

So why build a 3D model of an none-existing theme park? The answer is rather simple... because it doesn't exist! I've got the chance to give my fancy full scope. I'm not bound to any existing layouts or blueprints. In many ways Disneyland Canada will be very unique. It would be too boring for me to just dupluciate an entire theme park. So I decided to add some Disney magic to our beautiful Canada. In my opinion it would be great to have a park like that. Well, some people will disagree with me because of the weather, the climax, and the fact that North America already has two great Disney theme park resorts. But hey... it's just my imagination! I'm convinced that Disney will probably never build a canadian theme park anyway. So that's where the world of 3D modeling enters the stage. I'll be able to design and create three-dimensional models of my conceptual ideas for my very own canadian Disneyland. I'll do this by using the open source software Blender. Not only does this project allow me to let my visions become a virtual reality, but it is also a good way for me to share with you this bizarre yet delightful hobby.

By the way, I haven't legal rights to any part of the Walt Disney company, so I can't insist that you don't redistribute my renders and sketches. In fact, feel free to redistribute them as much as you'd like. I've come by this knowledge through entirely free and entirely legal means, and I'd like to spread it around.
